YourView Widget is Live!

With just a few clicks you can add the Free YourView widget to your website or blog. Build your community with real-time, location based conversations right on your website.

To get the Widget, pick your location and generate the code here. Then paste it anywhere before the '/body' tag in your website HTML. Instructions for Blogger and Wordpress are also available.

With a single click, your visitors will be able to join live conversations not just with your other visitors, but also with people who are participating in nearby conversations.

TWO STEPS

First: Select a location nearby that is most relevant to your content. You can use a city, zip code, area code, airport name, or just about anything else. For instance Grand Canyon, or Rockefeller Center or Dodger Stadium will all work. But don't get too excited about which location you pick. You can change this location anytime you want by returning to this page and generating a new code snippet to paste into your site.

Second: copy the code that is generated and paste it into your HTML or into your Blog's text widget or gadget. Note that some blog hosts do not permit javascript so the Widget will not work for them.

Once the widget is installed, it is automatic and nothing further is required of you. You may choose, however, to create and post items to a local conversation to promote your content or products and services. No login or registration is required in order to join an existing conversation. To create a new conversation the user must be registered and logged in.

New Widget - Coming Soon!

Now you can add YourView conversations directly to your web page or Blog. Open a window on live conversations that are going on nearby with this new Widget. YourView lets your visitors interact with people nearby, making them aware of your content as well.

Just a simple two-step process is all that is required to add YourView to your page. Once you add the code, its completely automatic. New conversations are displayed whenever your users click the small tab on the left side of your page. You can change or fine tune the location you need anytime by just revisiting the widget page.

Bull's Eye

What the heck is a 'Bull's Eye' ( )and why is it in the conversation balloons?

Members can express their opinions of a post by voting. The choices are Vote Up, Vote Down or "Bull's Eye."

When you Vote Up (represented by a 'thumbs up' symbol), your vote is recorded by displaying or increasing the number next to the vote. Also, the author is given some points to his YourView 'rank' which is a measure of his reliability and trustability.

When you Vote Down (a 'thumbs down' symbol) the post becomes visibly a little more transparent, indicating that it is less important than others.

When a post really does a great job answering a question, give it a 'Bull's Eye.' The post gets a little more opaque and pronounced to indicate that it is considered to be more important, and the author earns more points.

How can I trust an answer to my question? One way is to look for the author's Rank.

Demo Location Selected - San Juan Capistrano, Ca

Every new technology needs a 'smoke test' with live users actually using all the features. Ours will start June 1st in San Juan Capistrano, Ca!

A little known fact: San Juan Capistrano is the 4th largest tourist destination in Southern California behind the theme parks. You may know it as the place where the Swallows return from Argentina each year to build their mud nests in the ruins of the old Mission, which was destroyed by earthquake almost 200 years ago.

Visitors, locals, merchants and all of the town agencies or organizations will be able to join in conversations about Capistrano to share information, discoveries and suggestions. Join the fun in June - Chime In !!

iPhone Maintenance

Since we're still doing 'plumbing' maintenance on the Alpha versions of the website, the iPhone App isn't in final form (It will break with the next website release). So we've temporarily removed it from the App Store until the new version is ready.

The testing we did for the last two weeks went very well! Thanks so much to all who helped us. The App will continue to work for approximately 3 more weeks, then you'll have to download a new version.

Testing 1... 2... 3...

Remember, we're still testing YourView.com with this Prototype Preview. Even though it's visible to the public, we're still working on lots of new features - and some new ones will come out tomorrow.

You can help test if you like - pick a location, start or join a conversation and let us know what's not working quite right. Also let us know any suggestions for enhancements once we get past the prototype stage.

If you're interested in being part of our roll out, we'd love to have you.

Suggest Your Location for Beta Testing

In the coming weeks we'll be testing YourView in two or three specific locations - preferably ones with lots of people, visitors, activity, etc. This way there will be more chances of finding a live conversation when you need information.

We're looking not only for suggestions for locations, but also volunteers to help contribute to the nearby conversation by checking YourView.com from time to time. The local knowledge from someone who is familiar with, or lives in, one of our test locations really adds to the usefulness of YourView.

Use the Feedback tab on each page, or send suggestions to info@yourview.com
